From June 12 to 14, 2026, the town of Copparo, Italy, will host the Arcer 2026 Storico regional motorhome rally. The event is organized by the Emilia-Romagna Regional Camper Association in collaboration with local clubs and the municipality. Participants will park in the caravan area on Via Michelangelo. The program includes a bike tour with a visit to the La Tratta history museum, a guided tour of Ferrara's historic center, and attendance at the Palio di Copparo.
Local police in Rosignano Marittimo have increased checks on camper vans. Setting up stabilizer legs, awnings, or outdoor furniture on public land is prohibited. Fines: €100 for camping outside designated areas, €87 for parking in restricted zones, and €87 for discharging waste. The municipality provides two equipped camper areas and several seasonal parking spots.
With schools closing in Italy, a massive exodus of families in motorhomes is underway, with up to 80,000 vehicles expected. Campsites are already full of foreign tourists, mostly retirees and some young people. Italians traditionally take their holidays in July and August, including itinerant trips.
On the morning of June 11, 2026, at the entrance to Lu Bagnu near Castelsardo (Sassari province), a car collided with a motorhome. A 49-year-old Sardinian woman suffered multiple limb fractures and was airlifted by rescue helicopter to Santissima Annunziata hospital. The two tourists in the motorhome sustained only minor injuries. The Carabinieri are investigating the crash.
In Rovigo, on June 10, the 22nd Opera Prima festival began. The program included 'Officina oceanografica sentimentale' by Compagnia Samovar, a show for seven spectators inside a caravan. The performance uses handmade mechanisms, such as a chisel as a fish, to create a comic and touching image of the sea.
The second leg of the campaign against pet abandonment and for road safety will take place on the lakeside of Castel Gandolfo. The event features free educational activities, demonstrations by police and carabinieri, and distribution of pet food and gifts.
