Tractor without plates towing caravan on Plovdiv ring road

A video recorded on the Plovdiv ring road shows a tractor without license plates towing a caravan in heavy traffic. The tractor had flower pots instead of mandatory registration plates. The driver who filmed the incident noted that a police patrol nearby did not intervene. Under Bulgarian traffic law, driving without plates is an offense, and the slow-moving vehicle caused congestion and forced risky overtaking.

Not every powerful car is suitable for towing a trailer or caravan

When choosing a car for towing a trailer or caravan, horsepower alone is not the decisive factor. Torque and its range are more important: a wide plateau from 1500 to 3500 rpm is preferable to a peak at 4000–5000 rpm. Diesel engines are generally more convenient, as they achieve good traction at 1300–1800 rpm, while naturally aspirated petrol engines often come alive closer to 2500–3500 rpm. For a trailer weighing about 1 ton and a car weighing about 2 tons, a torque of at least 300–350 Nm in a wide range is desirable. The transmission also matters: a classic automatic with a torque converter handles loads better than a CVT or a dual-clutch robot. It is recommended to use no more than 3/4 of the manufacturer's maximum trailer load capacity.
