Turkey introduces accommodation tax for tents and motorhomes

Turkish manufacturer Ankaravan has introduced the 2.40 Micro caravan, 2.4 meters long, designed for two people. The model weighs under 750 kg, allowing towing without a special license in many countries. Inside, it includes a kitchen with sink, gas stove, and refrigerator, plus a full bathroom with toilet and shower. The price in Turkey is around 169,000 lira (about $3,700), comparable to a popular scooter.

Turkish retailer BİM will offer a 4.10-meter caravan for 399,000 TL as part of its June 2–3, 2026 promotion. The catalog also includes a 7 kg washing machine for 14,900 TL and a portable refrigerator for 9,900 TL. Stock is limited and high demand is expected.

With the Kurban Bayram holiday extended to nine days, caravan tourism along Turkey's Aegean coast has seen a significant increase. Occupancy rates at campsites in Çeşme, Alaçatı, Seferihisar, Foça, Datça, Akyaka, and Kuşadası reached 90%. Industry representatives stated that post-pandemic caravan culture has evolved from an alternative into a strong tourism model. Despite fuel costs, demand for rental caravans remains high, and availability has become limited in some areas.

Supermarket chain BİM has announced the sale of the Adle 4.10-meter caravan starting June 3, 2026. Priced at 399,000 Turkish lira, it is available with a 12-month installment plan at the cash price. The caravan comes with a type 01 approval certificate, enabling worldwide use.

The caravan park in Konyaaltı, opened by Antalya Metropolitan Municipality in 2023, is experiencing high demand during the holiday period. The facility has a capacity of 70 vehicles, with 50 spots for weekly stays and 20 for monthly stays. It offers infrastructure including electricity, water, showers, toilets, laundry, kitchen, and grey water disposal.
