Portable appliances dominate outdoor market ahead of summer holidays

South Korean company Sinil Electronics has introduced three portable home appliances designed for camping, motorhomes, and travel. The lineup includes a folding fan, a multi-cooker, and a mini air cooler. Sales of Sinil folding fans increased by 180% in January–May 2025 compared to the same period last year.

Lawyer Ahn Young-jin argues, based on court rulings, that insurance companies do not always win lawsuits over damages from battery fires. Courts often dismiss claims if the direct causal link between the defendant's actions (manufacturer, installer, repairer) and the fire is not proven. For instance, in a converted motorhome case, a court rejected a 140 million won claim because the battery was old and not supplied by the defendant. In another case involving an e-scooter, the claim was dismissed due to non-original parts and a charger.

South Korean automaker KG Mobility (KGM) has attracted attention from outdoor enthusiasts with its Musso pickup. The model is available in two versions: electric Musso EV and new petrol/diesel. The Musso EV features an 80.6 kWh battery, a range of up to 400 km, and fast charging from 20% to 80% in 24 minutes. Payload capacity is up to 500 kg, with V2L function (up to 3.5 kW). The new diesel version (2.2 L, 202 hp) and petrol (2.0 L turbo) offer payload up to 700 kg. The model won the Red Dot Design Award 2026.

Participants of JTBC's 'Divorce Camp' — a couple working as couriers with a combined monthly income of about 10 million won ($8,500) — have zero savings. The husband spent around 160 million won ($136,000) on drones, cameras, and motorhomes, including buying and reselling five motorhomes at a loss of about 100 million won ($85,000). When his wife pointed out the excessive spending, he became aggressive, drawing criticism from the show's hosts.

Gochang County (North Jeolla Province, South Korea) officially opened a glamping facility at the Gochang Mudflats Auto Camping Site on June 19. The 9-unit site came under municipal management in August 2024.
