Swedish Enforcement Authority Auctions Unique Saab Motorhome

The number of motorhomes is increasing in Sweden and the rest of Europe, leading to a shortage of parking spaces in Värmland. According to statistics from the Swedish Caravan and Motorhome Industry Association, just over a thousand new motorhomes have been registered in Sweden since last year. Harald and Eva Slyngstad, passing through on their way home to Kristiansand, prefer small towns for parking.

A Swedish family has occupied the same pitch at a campsite for 23 consecutive years. They return to the same spot annually, making it a tradition. According to the campers, they have gotten to know their neighbors and staff well over time.

A fire at a campsite in Strömstad municipality, Sweden, completely destroyed a car and a caravan. The incident occurred on July 28, 2026. Details and cause of the fire are not disclosed.

Many caravans and motorhomes are lined up in the parking lots of Birsta, Sweden. For some, the area is a stop for a meal; for others, an overnight spot. Travelers cite Birsta as a recurring stop on the route through Norrland.

Swedish brand Polar built a single unit of the Polar Glacier 'Black Beast' caravan in 2008, measuring 14 metres in length and featuring a sauna, dishwasher, ice maker and four berths. With a kerb weight of 3,400 kg and a maximum authorised mass of 3,500 kg, the payload is only 100 kg. The caravan does not comply with European road regulations (maximum trailer length in the Czech Republic is 12 metres) and has had a driving ban in Sweden since December 2025. The original price was around €125,000, but at auctions in October 2025 the highest bid reached SEK 294,000 (approx. CZK 650,000) and in May 2026 SEK 83,000, without meeting the seller's reserve price.

Motorhome dealer Krohns Husbilar posted a 52.6% revenue increase in 2025, reaching SEK 12.5 million. Pre-tax profit rose to SEK 300,000 from SEK 80,000, according to its annual report.
