How to read the plate
A Zimbabwean plate has three letters and four digits (ADV 5517). Series are national, and the plate shows no region. The rear plate is yellow, with the coat of arms, the word ZIMBABWE and a hologram between the groups.
Region codes
Plates in this country do not show the region — you cannot tell it from the plate.
History
The current format has been in use since 2006. From 1971 to 2006 private cars had yellow plates of the form 123-456A and commercial vehicles ABC 1234; no regional codes are described in the sources.
