How to read the plate
A Tuvalu plate has letters and digits in white on black, usually two letters and four digits (AB1234); the owner has it made. The sources do not explain what the letters mean, so no region can be read from the plate.
Region codes
Plates in this country do not show the region — you cannot tell it from the plate.
History
Until 1978 Tuvalu was part of the British Gilbert and Ellice Islands colony. The sources do not say when the current system began.
