Tescil — Turkish vehicle registration process

Tescil is the formal process of registering a vehicle with the Trafik Tescil Şubesi of the Turkish General Directorate of Security. It produces a ruhsat and a licence plate. Camper conversions and imported motokaravan have dedicated tescil procedures.

A new vehicle must be filed for tescil within 30 days of the invoice date. For camper conversions (motorlu karavan or çekme karavan), an engineer's report to TSE 12257 plus a TÜVTÜRK type approval are mandatory. Importing a used motokaravan triggers high ÖTV and VAT customs charges — using a professional gümrük müşaviri (customs broker) is strongly recommended.
