Muayene — Turkish technical vehicle inspection

Muayene is the mandatory periodic technical inspection of motor vehicles and trailers in Turkey, carried out by TÜVTÜRK. It checks roadworthiness — brakes, tyres, lighting, emissions — and habitation safety for caravans.

Frequency: private cars are exempt for the first 3 years, then every 2 years; once over 10 years old — annually. Commercial M2/N1 are inspected every year; caravans and motokaravan every 2 years. Skipping muayene triggers a fine plus gecikme bedeli (late fee). Extra check points for caravans: gas system, 12 V and 220 V electrics, habitation module mounting and the fixings of movable furniture.
