Banheiro seco — Brazilian dry/composting toilet

Water System Brazil Latin America

Banheiro seco, Brazilian composting toilet, banheiro de compostagem, dry toilet motorhome Brazil

Banheiro seco is the Brazilian term for the dry / composting toilet used in motorhomes, trailers, and eco-campings. It uses no water; solids (covered with sawdust or peat) and liquids go into separate chambers, removing the need for a black-water tank.

Imported brands common in Brazil: Nature's Head, Air Head, Separett Tiny. Local DIY kits: Banheiro Seco Brasil, Toalete Bioconstrutivo. Emptying: solids every 4–8 weeks into compost; liquids every 2–5 days. No strong odour when well ventilated. Different from the "banheiro químico" with blue chemical fluid.
