Hyundai unveiled the Staria Camper Concept based on an 800V electric platform. It features a 218 hp electric motor, an estimated range of 400 km, and fast charging from 10 to 80% in 20 minutes. The roof integrates a 520 W solar panel generating up to 2.6 kWh per day for auxiliary systems. The interior is modular with swiveling front seats and a rear row that transforms into a double bed. Production is not yet confirmed, with a possible launch in 2027.
Wallonia, the southern region of Belgium, offers a six-day motorhome itinerary combining nature, history, and gastronomy. The route includes cities like Tournai, Namur, Dinant, Bouillon, and La Roche-en-Ardenne, along with historical sites such as the Waterloo battlefield and Villers-la-Ville Abbey. Natural highlights include the Han-sur-Lesse caves, while local food experiences feature the Dubuisson brewery and a chocolate workshop.
The choice between a motorhome and a caravan is determined not so much by technical parameters as by travel style. A motorhome offers spontaneity and minimal hassle upon arrival, allowing easy changes of parking spot. A caravan, on the other hand, provides mobility on site: after setting up the trailer, you can freely move around in a passenger car. According to the NKC, traveling with a caravan is less practical when frequently changing locations, but wins out when staying long-term at one site.
Chausson introduced the V697 model based on the Fiat Ducato. The campervan measures 6.36 m in length, 2.05 m in width, and 2.65 m in height, powered by a 2.2-liter diesel engine with 140 hp and start-stop system. It offers three sleeping places (two fixed and one convertible from the dinette), a full kitchen with a gas stove and 84-liter fridge, and a bathroom with sink, shower, cassette toilet, and a window for ventilation. Starting price is €57,490.
Compact camper vans are gaining popularity among travelers seeking freedom and adventure. They are cheaper than motorhomes: a new camper van costs under €40,000, and used ones can be found for even less. However, they offer less interior space than motorhomes and are mainly suitable for solo travelers or couples, not families.
Several solutions are available for internet access in a motorhome: smartphone tethering, 4G router, 4G dongle, public WiFi networks, and satellite antenna. Smartphone tethering is the most popular option, requiring no extra equipment but consuming mobile data. A 4G router allows multiple devices to connect simultaneously and is portable. A satellite antenna provides connectivity in remote areas but costs from €1,000.
