Motorhome will return

Chinese motorhome maker Kangpai (Rongcheng) deployed an 'Industry Brain' digital platform to streamline production. The system, launched in 2025, integrates data across the entire chain: from design to after-sales service. Motorhome delivery time dropped from 35 days, and raw material (galvanized steel) procurement costs fell via collective purchasing. The platform is open to small and medium enterprises in the sector.

Chinese caravan manufacturer Compaks RV reduced its delivery cycle from 35 to 9–10 days after adopting the Haier COSMOPlat industrial internet platform. The entire production process is now online and standardized, enabling real-time tracking of all stages. Exports account for over 90% of output, mainly to Australia. The company's revenue multiplied several times over five years, and Rongcheng's caravan output reached 15,000 units in 2025, representing 30% of China's total.

The Stelato G9 crossover from BAIC and Huawei will be available for pre-order in China from August 5. The vehicle features gold-colored controls, three screens, leather upholstery, and a roof tent. It measures 5206 mm in length with a 3160 mm wheelbase. The electric version with dual motors producing 594 hp has a range of over 700 km, while the hybrid version reaches up to 1300 km. The crossover can ford 900 mm deep water and tow a 2-tonne trailer.

Romantess Motorhomes has introduced its first light-truck-based camper, the Blue Whale C10 hybrid, priced from 428,000 yuan. It uses a Jiangxi E-Luda chassis with a 1.5L petrol engine and a 135 kW rear electric motor (370 Nm torque). Dimensions: 5990×2490×3290 mm, 6.5-tonne chassis, 6 seats, drivable with a C1 license. Key specs: 400 L fresh water, 130 L grey water, 12V 824 Ah lithium battery (approx. 10 kWh), 6000 W inverter, 2030 W solar panels, plus a 50.38 kWh traction battery that can recharge the living area. Interior features ENF-grade furniture, two fixed beds (front 2300×1500 mm, rear 2300×1400 mm), a kitchen with induction hob, extractor, sink, 152 L fridge and microwave, an electric toilet, shower, and a 5 kg washing machine. External equipment includes a 4.3 m awning, diesel hob, 25 L auxiliary fuel tank, stabiliser legs, and a tow hitch.

China has over 200,000 registered camper vans but only 3,000 official campsites. Nine national government bodies led by the Ministry of Commerce have introduced measures to develop infrastructure: local authorities must optimize road management rules for non-standard vehicles and mandate dedicated RV spaces in new or renovated urban parking lots. Pilot cities like Yangzhou in Jiangsu Province are converting idle plots into RV havens with water, electricity, and service centers. RV sales in 2025 jumped 24.5% year-on-year, surpassing 20,000 units, making China Asia’s largest market.

Rongcheng Kangpaisi New Energy Vehicle Co., Ltd. has upgraded its caravan manufacturing by adopting digital technologies on the COSMOPlat industrial internet platform. Previously, assembling a single travel trailer with nearly 3,000 parts took 35 days, and custom orders required manual coordination. The new system automates the entire production chain, reducing lead times and increasing flexibility.
