Environmental Security Forces Detain Violators for Unauthorized Camping, Fire, and Sediment Extraction

The Qassim region in Saudi Arabia has become a hub for motorhome manufacturing. The area currently hosts four factories specializing in converting vehicles into motorhomes. One producer, Abdul Hadi al-Subaie, reported that his facility produces eight units per month, with a six-month waiting period for delivery. Increased demand is linked to simplified camping permits in national parks.

Algerian authorities have banned camping and movement in forest areas from May 1 to October 30, 2026, due to high wildfire risk. The measure includes a ban on barbecues, cooking, and gatherings in forest lands. Violators face up to six months in prison and fines. The decision follows several years of severe fires caused by climate change and heat.

Permit valid for up to 90 days, renewable with civil defense approval. License fee is 1,500 SAR, refundable deposit is 1,000 SAR. Fine for unlicensed camping is up to 10,000 SAR.

The Special Forces for Environmental Security detained a citizen for camping without a license in King Abdulaziz Royal Reserve. The fine for such violation is up to 3,000 riyals. Another violator was caught grazing 25 camels in a prohibited area of Imam Abdulaziz bin Mohammed Royal Reserve. The fine for camel grazing is 500 riyals per animal.
