Kastenwagen

Vehicle Types Germany & Austria

Panel van motorhome, high-roof van camper, box van conversion, high-top camper, Ducato high-roof

Kastenwagen is a German term for a motorhome built within the body of a high-roof panel van, without a coachbuilt extension. The van's original metal bodywork is retained; the interior is fully fitted out.

Kastenwagen motorhomes are compact, garage-friendly, and more discreet than coachbuilt models. Popular base vans include the Fiat Ducato L3H2/H3, Mercedes Sprinter, and VW Crafter. Standing height is possible in models with raised roofs.
