Drop-down bed, drop down bed, electric drop-down bed, hub-bett, hubbett, lift bed, ceiling bed, motorhome lift-down bed
A drop-down bed is a sleeping platform that is raised against the ceiling during the day and lowered at night on straps, gas struts, or an electric motor over a seating area or cab. It provides a full double bed without sacrificing the daytime layout.
Most common in panel-van conversions (Hymercar, Pössl, Adria Twin) and semi-integrated motorhomes above the dinette. Typically lowered on 4 webbing straps or gas struts; premium models use electric motors with a single button. Stroke is usually 80–110 cm and capacity 200–250 kg. Not to be confused with an alcove (a fixed bed in the overcab nose).
