Lake District holiday park named UK’s most sustainable family business

The Quiet Site at Ullswater has been named the UK’s Sustainable Family Business of the Year 2026 by Family Business United. The award was presented at a ceremony in London at the National Geographic Society. Owner Daniel Holder said the park has achieved carbon neutrality and generates 80% of its energy from on-site renewables. The park also helped launch a community bus service in the Ullswater area to reduce congestion and emissions.

Jason Momoa and Electrogenic create hybrid Harley-Davidson and electric camper

Actor Jason Momoa, together with British company Electrogenic, has unveiled a series of electric conversions: hybrid Harley-Davidson motorcycles from the 1920s and fully electric Land Rovers. The 1924 and 1927 Harley-Davidson Model JD bikes feature a plug-in hybrid with a 15 hp electric motor and a retained 20 hp internal combustion engine, while the 1921 Model FD received a fully electric drivetrain. The 1949 Land Rover Series I and the Series IIA 109 Dormobile camper are equipped with 48 kWh and 62 kWh batteries respectively, offering a range of about 240 km. A Schutt Industries XVENTURE XV-2 trailer with a 93 kWh battery for off-grid power is also included.

Man ordered to complete 150 hours' unpaid work for dumping trailer tent

Christopher Gale, from Southampton, pleaded guilty at Southampton Magistrates’ Court to dumping a trailer tent and related waste on Station Road in Nursling on May 13, 2025. The court imposed a 12-month community order and ordered him to pay over £1,100 in costs. The trailer remained in the layby for 10 days before Test Valley Borough Council identified Gale through DVLA records after two resident reports.

Bournemouth: wealthy suburb residents angered by 'van dwellers' blocking views from £1m homes

A passive-aggressive banner reading 'BCP Council welcomes long term van dwellers' has appeared in Southbourne Overcliff, highlighting the issue of caravans and motorhomes parking long-term on a clifftop road. Caravan park fire in Oxfordshire: dozens evacuated, 12 households rehoused

A significant fire broke out on the evening of 12 July at Oaks Caravan Park in Fyfield Wick, Oxfordshire, reportedly started by a barbecue. 125 firefighters from four counties tackled the blaze; no injuries were reported.
