The Thai government announced 37 free campsites nationwide from December 27, 2024 to January 2, 2025, to boost domestic tourism. Sites are located in 19 provinces including Chiang Mai, Mae Hong Son, and Lampang. Each site will have 24-hour staff, free drinking water, and toilets.
A new campsite called 'Khuan Kong Thui' has opened in Phang Nga province, Thailand, on a former rubber plantation. The owner converted the land into a tourist spot with panoramic views of the city and mountains. The campsite offers 11 tents, barbecue equipment, a cafe, and a restaurant. It is noted for stargazing at night and sunrise views in the morning.
Sanook Travel has published a selection of motorhome-friendly locations in Thailand. Recommendations include Casa De Montana in Khao Yai, offering stays in motorhomes amid cool weather, and Camp Out Korat in Nakhon Ratchasima, featuring camping with barbecue. In Pattani, Thailand, on May 9, 2026, the 'Pattani Squid Fishing and Camping Festival' opened at Khaekhae Beach. The event aims to attract tourists and boost the local economy. The squid fishing competition involved 119 boats, with a total catch exceeding 1,000 kg. The winning boat caught 100 kg. The festival also featured cooking contests, a 20 km bike ride, surfing, and cultural performances.
Yamaha has unveiled and started sales in Thailand of the limited PG-1 Special Edition Outdoor Fashion. The bike features a 114cc engine, ABS, and a set of six factory accessories for camping and off-road use. Production is limited to 1,000 units, priced at 67,000 baht (approx. 46 million VND).
A new campsite, Camping Rimnam, has opened in Phu Luang district, Loei province, Thailand. It offers free bamboo rafting and swimming in a stream. The temperature in the area is 24–27 °C. Entry fee is about 100 baht, open daily from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
