In Argentina, driving a motorhome requires a Class C driver's license if the vehicle's gross weight exceeds 3,500 kg. The category is divided into subclasses C1 (3,501–12,000 kg), C2 (12,001–40,000 kg), and C3 (over 40,000 kg). To obtain the license, applicants must hold a prior category, complete a theoretical course, pass a psychophysical exam, and take a practical test in a suitable vehicle. Motorhomes weighing up to 3,500 kg can be driven with a standard Class B license.

Experts in camper conversion warn that when building a motorhome for Patagonia, load distribution calculation and obtaining the Vehicle Safety Certificate (CSV) are critical. Errors in layout can lead to loss of stability on the Ruta 40 highway. The article lists mandatory technical requirements: placement of water tanks (about 150 L) in the center of the van, use of thermal insulation, installation of a separate gel auxiliary battery with a disconnect switch, and use of portable chemical toilets due to the lack of dump stations in the region.
In Argentina, more people are adopting motorhomes as permanent homes in Patagonia. Legal travel requires strict adherence to ANSV regulations, including unified registration and a Vehicle Safety Certificate (CSV).
