Council rejects move to drop overnight parking at John Jenkins stadium

A North Yorkshire retiree was mis-sold a holiday home as a permanent residence and subsequently subjected to a 'relentless campaign of harassment' by park staff, according to local MP Alison Hume. The man was forced to sell the home at a 60% loss, with the park reselling it four days later for a substantial profit. In response, the UK government is exploring measures to strengthen buyer protections, including regulation of the 10% resale commission and pitch fee increases.

Simon John Turner, 49, was sentenced to 10 years in prison for defrauding three victims of approximately £190,000. He promised to help buy caravans and make investments but used fake invoices. The sentence was handed down in April 2026.
