How to read the plate
A Kyrgyz plate reads left to right: the two-digit region code at the top of the left field, the flag and KG below it, then three digits and three Latin letters. 01 is Bishkek, 02 is the city of Osh, 03–09 are the regions. The typeface is FE-Schrift, as on European plates: a slashed-style zero and an open four.

History
The current plates have been issued since 2016. On the 1994–2016 plates the region was the first Latin letter (B 1234 AB: B for Bishkek, O for Osh); such plates are still seen. Before 1994 cars carried Soviet series.
