A water pump in a motorhome is a 12V DC pump that pressurises the fresh water system, delivering water from the tank to taps, the shower, and the toilet whenever a tap is opened.
Most motorhomes use diaphragm pumps (Shurflo, Whale) that self-prime and run dry safely. Flow rates range from 6 to 20 litres/minute. A pressure accumulator tank is often fitted alongside to reduce pump cycling and noise.
