Macerator

Water System USA Canada

Macerator pump, RV macerator, sewage grinder pump, Sani-Con, black water pump, small-diameter dump hose

A macerator is an electric pump that grinds the contents of a black water holding tank and pushes the slurry through a narrow ~1″ (25 mm) hose. Used when a standard 3″ sewer hose cannot be connected directly to a sewer or septic system.

Especially common in North American RVs for dumping into household sewer cleanouts or septic tanks when no dump station is nearby. Popular models: Thetford Sani-Con Turbo, Flojet 18555, SHURflo Macerator. Draws 8–15 A at 12 V, moves 12–18 GPM (45–70 L/min). Not designed for continuous duty — run in short cycles of 2–3 minutes.
