GIIAS 2026

PT Isuzu Astra Motor Indonesia (IAMI) displayed two modified commercial vehicles at the GIIAS 2026 exhibition in Tangerang: the Isuzu Traga Putri Salon Studio and the Isuzu Elf NLR Campervan. The Traga was converted into a mobile beauty salon, while the Elf NLR was turned into a camper for long-distance travel. Both vehicles were developed in collaboration with local partners. Isuzu also reported a 27.6% market share in Indonesia's commercial vehicle segment for the first half of 2026.

Traveler Rahmi Syofia, known as Mimi Campervan, faced difficulties while touring Kalimantan and Sulawesi in a modified Hyundai H-1 camper. She was denied subsidized diesel at a gas station in East Kalimantan because she lacked a Brizzi card linked to her vehicle. She also reported high ferry costs (up to 3.6 million rupiah) and instances of alleged illegal fees.

Solo camping can cause anxiety due to unfamiliar surroundings, night sounds, and potential emergencies. It is recommended to choose official campsites with good facilities, prepare equipment thoroughly, learn natural sounds, and inform relatives about the route.

Teuku Faisal Laksamana and his wife Indriati from Ciputat Timur, South Tangerang, have completed a phased conversion of their camper van for a global journey. The vehicle features a bed, a foldable table, a mini-fridge, and 20 liters of spare fuel. The hood displays an Indonesian flag and flags of countries on the route, plus a Thai license plate received as a gift.

Indriati, 61, a doctor from South Tangerang, closed her private practice to join her husband Teuku Faisal Laksamana on a round-the-world trip in a camper van. The couple started traveling in February 2022, covering Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Cambodia, Vietnam, and Laos, and now plan an overland route to Europe.
