On the evening of July 14, 2026, a motorhome caught fire while driving in Söderhamn, Sweden. Emergency services responded to the scene. Traffic on road 652 was affected in both directions.
A Swedish expedition motorhome based on a four-wheel-drive Scania fire truck has been listed for sale. The vehicle, weighing over 17 tons, can be driven with a B-class driver's license obtained before 1996. It features a 360 hp diesel engine, automatic transmission, and a winch. The interior offers four sleeping berths, and the exterior is decorated with graphics depicting Roald Amundsen's expeditions. The asking price is 2,450,000 Swedish kronor.
A motorhome crashed on the E18 highway near Kungsängen, Sweden, on Tuesday afternoon. According to police, the vehicle hit a wire barrier and left the road. The driver sustained serious injuries and was airlifted to hospital by ambulance helicopter. Traffic was initially closed but reopened by 1:00 PM. Recovery of the motorhome is scheduled overnight. No crime is suspected.
Perfect Weekend editor Viggo Cavling spent a week in a Sunlight T690L motorhome on a Ford Transit chassis to understand the appeal of this lifestyle. Sweden has about 120,000 registered motorhomes, with new registrations up 54.7% in the first half of the year compared to the same period last year, though some of this increase is due to early registrations ahead of new Euro 6 rules. The nearly 7-meter-long, over 2-meter-wide vehicle requires constant concentration while driving but offers freedom of movement. The week's main challenge was emptying the toilet cassette, solved by a CamperClean machine in Uddevalla for 100 kronor.
A resident of Västerås was fined 1,500 SEK for driving a car and caravan combination that exceeded the total weight limit for a standard B license. Police check the registered maximum weights of the vehicles, not the actual load, which can lead to violations even if the car can tow the caravan.
A dispute arose in Sweden over motorhomes parked at Lake Halen in Olofström. Residents complained on social media, and the municipality stated the area is not a designated parking lot. Under Swedish law, sleeping in a motorhome on a legal parking spot is allowed, but the right of public access (allemansrätten) does not apply to vehicles: parking in forests, beaches, or lawns is prohibited. Parking lots have time limits (usually 24 hours), and rest areas are intended only for short stops.
