Compare countries and cities by VanSky score and pick your next stop Compare regions by VanSky score and pick your destination
A comparison of 59 cities in Romania by VanSky score — how comfortable it is to travel in each today. We factor in temperature, wind, sun and conditions by the sea. Sort by any metric and pick your next stop. A comparison of 42 regions of Romania by VanSky score — where it's most comfortable to travel right now. We factor in temperature, wind, sun and conditions by the sea.
The country score (0–100) is computed from all of its cities, not a single point. Cities are grouped into regions, and a region's score is the median of its cities so dense clusters don't outweigh sparse ones. Final score = 0.65 × “best areas” (80th percentile of regions) + 0.35 × “typical conditions” (median of regions), so one warm city can't push the whole country to 100. Each city's score blends warmth (feels-like), sun, rain and wind, adjusted for night temperature and, on the coast, the sea. Data: Open-Meteo, refreshed several times a day.
The scale above shows what share of the country's cities falls into each comfort band. “Best spot” is the most comfortable region or city this week; “typical conditions” is the median score across regions.

Romanian publication Lovedeco compiled seven stories of people who converted vans and motorhomes into permanent dwellings. Budgets range from €800 to €20,000, and vehicles include a Volkswagen T3, Citroën Jumper, and a 1994 Ford. All projects share the idea that home is defined not by an address but by lifestyle.
On the July 5, 2026 episode of Super Neatza de Weekend, Liviu Gal, president of the Romanian Caravanning Association, presented a complete guide for motorhome travelers. The segment covered route planning, campsite selection, safety rules, water and energy management, and differences between off-camping and organized areas.
Wine expert Cătălin Păduraru has proposed the 'Autostrada Podgoriilor' (Wine Highway) project, linking wineries in the Dealu Mare region into a route for motorhome tourists. The first stop was at Feruccio winery near Ploiești.
The growing popularity of motorhomes in Romania was evident at a specialized fair in Cluj. Among the models on display was the Forster T699 HB, built on a Fiat Ducato chassis with a 140 hp diesel engine, measuring nearly seven meters in length and designed for four people. It features a fully equipped kitchen, shower and toilet, a double bed and an additional drop-down bed, a 142-liter refrigerator, Truma Combi heating, stationary air conditioning, a rearview camera, an awning, and large fresh and waste water tanks. The exhibited 2023 model with approximately 48,000 km was priced at nearly 60,000 euros. Compact Elnagh E-Van models, ranging from 5.99 to 6.36 meters in length, were also presented, with prices starting from 45,000 euros and reaching 52,000 euros for the Premium version.
Dacia has introduced an optional Pack Sleep for its 2025 Bigster hybrid SUV. The module converts the cargo area into a double bed with integrated storage compartments. The solution is positioned as a budget alternative to full-size campers and trailers, allowing the vehicle to be used for daily driving.
In Ploiești, two local regulations (HCL No. 253/2021 and HCL No. 96/2009) explicitly prohibit parking caravans on public property, including residential areas and sidewalks. However, in 2025–2026, SGU Ploiești did not tow a single caravan because the police never issued such orders. As a result, despite the ban, caravans continue to occupy parking spaces in front of apartment buildings.
