On May 10, the China (Jiaxing)-Australia Economic and Trade Promotion Conference was held in Melbourne. Jin Geely RV, a key enterprise from Tongxiang, participated, with founder Miao Xuezhong signing a three-year strategic cooperation agreement with Australian dealer Green RV. The event featured speeches from Chinese Consulate in Melbourne and Melbourne City Council officials. Jin Geely RV was highlighted as a successful case of Chinese investment in Australia.
Private equity group BGH Capital increased its takeover offer for Tourism Holdings Limited by nearly 35%. The campervan rental operator downgraded its full-year profit forecast, citing higher fuel costs that reduced demand from grey nomads and backpackers. The Trouchet brothers, founders of the Apollo brand, joined the BGH consortium after their earlier bid was rejected in June 2025.
The Dolphins rugby club has announced a two-year partnership with Nomadic Off-Road Campers, making the company an official partner. As part of the deal, a pop-top camper will be the main prize for members of The 100 Club loyalty program who attend all home games in the 2026 season. A man and a woman were airlifted to hospital after their ute and caravan crashed on the Princes Highway at North Batemans Bay. Emergency services arrived just before midday. The pair, both in their 70s, sustained head, chest, shoulder, and abdominal injuries and were taken to The Canberra Hospital in serious condition.
The Glasshouse Mountains Caravan and Camping Park, a 21-acre property on the Sunshine Coast, has been listed for sale. Owner Steve Ralph, who has owned the park since the early 1980s, decided to sell for health reasons after a heart attack. The property includes 60 powered campsites, four residences, a restaurant, equine facilities, a Cobb & Co museum, and the Australian Teamsters Hall of Fame. The expected sale price is around $7 million.
