Sydney fines 86 euros for parking caravans and boats on public streets

Sydney authorities will fine 86 euros (140 Australian dollars) from late July 2026 for parking caravans and boats on streets without a towing vehicle. The measure applies in five residential areas of Sutherland Shire as a six-month trial. In 2025, the council received over 2,400 complaints about boats and trailers and over 500 about caravans. The aim is to free up space and improve road safety.

Victoria glamping planning dispute prompts calls for regulatory reform

Four luxury safari tents at NRMA Bright Holiday Park must be removed after a five-year planning dispute, as Alpine Shire Council classified them as buildings rather than temporary structures. Each tent cost between A$80,000 and A$100,000 to install, remained unused during the dispute, and will be relocated interstate. Caravan and Residential Parks Victoria (CRPV) said Victoria is the only Australian state without legislated guidance for glamping, causing inconsistent decisions among local councils. The Victorian government is developing updated planning guidance for glamping and other alternative accommodation, expected later this month.

Council caravan park fees simplified and made more competitive to attract visitors

New fees have been set for the Kyogle Gardens Caravan Park in Kyogle, Australia. The park was closed for most of last year for a $1.8 million upgrade and reopened in November 2025. Fees are lower than at nearby parks and use a single year-round pricing structure. A powered site for two adults costs A$29 per night, an unpowered site A$15, with a discount for members of the Campervan and Motorhome Club of Australia (CMCA).

Sydney's Sutherland Shire introduces new fines for motorhome parking on streets

Sutherland Shire Council in Sydney has announced stricter measures against long-term parking of motorhomes and boats on public roads. Starting late July, a six-month pilot program will install 'No parking, motor vehicles excepted' signs in specific areas. Owners who continue to park motorhomes or boats not attached to a motor vehicle in designated zones will face a fine of 140 Australian dollars. The program covers the suburbs of Cronulla, Caringbah South, Woolooware, Lilli Pilli, and Como.
