Custom text: real plates never carry this combination.
This image is not a license plate: it must not be fitted to a vehicle and does not mean the combination is available.
How to read the plate
A Costa Rican plate has three letters and three digits (BBB-123) in blue on white within a blue border; older plates have six digits (123456). COSTA RICA and the flag are at the top, CENTROAMERICA at the bottom. The plate shows no region.
Region codes
Plates in this country do not show the region — you cannot tell it from the plate.
History
The Road Safety Council (COSEVI) has issued the current series since 2013. On early plates of the 1950s–60s the first two letters showed the city, for example SJ for San José.
