Diesel pusher

Vehicle Types USA

Diesel pusher, rear-engine diesel motorhome, Class A diesel, luxury Class A, DP motorhome, premium RV

A diesel pusher is a large Class A motorhome with a diesel engine mounted at the rear of the chassis. The "pusher" name comes from the engine pushing the coach from behind, in contrast with traditional front-gasoline layouts.

Advantages: strong torque for towing, quieter cabin, 300,000+ mile engine life, better handling at 40–45 ft (12–14 m) lengths. Drawbacks: $300,000–1,500,000+ price tag, complex servicing (specialized diesel RV shops needed), 6–9 mpg fuel economy. Well-known builders: Tiffin Allegro Bus, Newmar Dutch Star, Entegra Anthem, Prevost. The rear-engined motorhome layout is rare in Europe.
