Bike rack

Layout & Interior

Bike rack, motorhome bike rack, rear bike carrier, bicycle carrier, e-bike rack, Fiamma Carry-Bike, Thule bike rack

A bike rack is an external carrier that mounts 2–4 bicycles on the rear wall, rear door, or towbar of a motorhome, caravan, or trailer. The European market is dominated by Fiamma Carry-Bike (rear-wall) and Thule (towbar). Typical capacity: 60 kg total for e-bikes, 30–45 kg for regular bikes.

Mounting styles: rear-wall (bolted through alloy mounting rails), towbar (tilt-down rack with a number plate and lights), ladder-mount, or roof. E-bikes need the heavy-duty versions (Fiamma Carry-Bike Pro E, Thule VeloSpace XT), rated 30+ kg per bike. Costs: 5–10 % extra fuel use, road noise, and shell damage if poorly fitted. In Germany the bikes on the rear must remain visible in the door mirrors or you need a rear-view camera.
