Australia → New Zealand: no visa needed

How many days can you stay in New Zealand?

Short answer

no day limit

no visa needed; counting details below

Continuously per entry
no day limit
How the days are counted
no day limit
Does leaving reset the counter
No — the days keep counting in the same window

The number of days comes from the dataset and can be trusted; the way they are counted is an assumption. Verify at the border.

Immigration New Zealand: visa waiver visitors "do not need a visitor visa to enter New Zealand for a period of less than 3 months, or 6 months if from the United Kingdom"; under the Visitor Visa rules — "stay for up to a total of 6 months in each 12-month period", with an overall ceiling of "9 months in an 18-month period". That is, a single entry is up to 3 months, but no more than 6 months in total within any rolling 12-month window (counted backwards from the intended departure date). A visa run does not reset the limit.

Length-of-stay rules come from several sources. Some are verified by the OpenVan.camp Editorial team against official sources and show a verification date. The rest are extracted from open sources, most often Wikipedia, and are shown with a source link and the date they were retrieved. Vehicle import rules are shown only once verified. The underlying visa requirement matrix is the passport-index-data dataset (MIT licence), updated 17 February 2026.
