Comfort station, comfort building, washroom Canada, shower block Canada, sanitary station Parks Canada
Comfort station is the Parks Canada and provincial-park term for a shared sanitary building with flush toilets, sinks, and usually showers. The level of comfort varies from "rustic" (pit toilets only) to "modern" (heated, hot showers, laundry).
In national parks, comfort stations open seasonally (May to mid-October). Showers are usually free or coin-operated (usually coin-operated; bring small change). Larger sites add accessible washrooms and family rooms. Tip: pitch close to a comfort station but not too close — they get noisy at night.
