Camp host
Camp host, campground host, volunteer camp host, host site, workamper
A camp host is a person — often a couple or a family — who lives in their own RV on a dedicated "host site" in a state park, national forest, or RV park and helps with guest check-in, questions, trash, and quiet hours. In the US they usually work under a volunteer-for-site arrangement: free site in exchange for ~20–30 hours of work per week.
The program is especially strong in US National Forests, State Parks, BLM campgrounds, and concessionaires like American Land & Leisure. Apply 6–12 months ahead of the season. Good hosts know every trail, water source, and local rule in their area. Not to be confused with a paid camp host, which is a workamping job (see workamping).
