Roadbook · step 1 of 3 Route

Your whole cross-border trip on one page

Visas, vehicle time limits, vignettes, fuel, weather and places to stay for every country on the way.

Where are you going?

Route options
Looking for other routes and pricing them… Comparing roads by fuel, tolls and time — usually a couple of seconds.

No other routes found — this is the best way.

When do you leave?

With a date I will work out your last days to leave each country and show the forecast. Without one — durations only.

The roadbook will suggest the best departure day from the weather forecast for the coming week.

How many hours a day at the wheel?

How long a detour is fine?

We’ll show the most interesting places near the route — a picnic with a view instead of a roadside stop.

What are you driving, and which passport?

Visas depend on your passport, tolls on the vehicle class, the budget on fuel consumption.

What’s in a roadbook

One page with everything you need to know before you leave and on the road — for every country on the way.

Visas for your passport

How many days you can stay in each country, counting the 90/180 rule and your previous trips.

Vehicle time limits

Temporary import, number-plate bans and the green card — so your vehicle is not held at the border.

Vignettes and toll roads

Where you need a vignette and where to buy it in advance, what toll sections cost for your class.

Fuel and budget

Prices by country, where to fill up before the border, and the trip total in your currency.

Weather on the way

The forecast for your driving days and the best day to drive.

Campsites along the route

Campsites and motorhome stops near the road — with water, electricity and a dump station.

News and events

What has changed in each country over the last six months, and which festivals and shows are on the way.

Checklist and print

Documents, things to buy at the border and everything to tick off before you go. Print it for the glovebox.

FAQ

What is a roadbook?

A trip plan on one page: the route day by day and everything you need to know about each country on the way — visas, vehicle time limits, toll roads, fuel, weather and campsites. The word comes from rallying, where the co-driver guides the crew with a roadbook.

Is it free? Do I need to sign up?

It is free and there is no sign-up. Each roadbook gets a permanent link you can save, send to your companions or print.

Where does the data come from?

Visa rules and vehicle import limits come from the OpenVan visa section, fuel prices from our Fuel Prices section, tolls from the operators’ tariffs, weather from VanSky (Open-Meteo), the route and campsites from OpenStreetMap. The roadbook lists its sources and check dates.

Can I fully rely on the dates?

Treat them as guidance, not legal advice. Rules change, so check the official websites before you leave — the roadbook links to them.

Can I change the dates or the vehicle later?

Yes. Dates, passports, stops and the vehicle can be changed right on the roadbook page and everything is recalculated at once. To change the route itself, build a new roadbook or move the points on the map.

What if people in the vehicle have different passports?

Add your companions on the roadbook page: each passport has its own visa rules, and the roadbook shows the strictest limit for the whole group.

Ready to hit the road?

A couple of minutes and you have a roadbook for the whole trip.
