Wonju to Build Dedicated Parking Lot for Caravans and Motorhomes

The first caravan styled like a traditional Korean hanok house has opened in Byeonsan National Park, South Korea. The accommodation costs from 50,000 won per night and can accommodate up to five people.

The Sodo Campground in Taebaeksan National Park opens on April 16 for the spring season. The 31,700 sq m facility features 18 sites for small caravans, 14 sites dedicated solely to caravans, and 48 sites for car camping, totaling 80 sites. A new stargazing program will be introduced this season.

Campers and caravans are occupying spaces for extended periods in the free public parking lot at Central Sports Park in Changwon, causing a shortage of parking. Under the revised Parking Lot Act effective from July 2024, authorities can issue movement orders and towing measures for vehicles parked long-term in public parking facilities.

Visitors to the popular paid Daewangam Auto Camping site in Ulsan are complaining about privacy violations due to constant foot traffic from outsiders through the grounds. Despite installed barriers and signs, local residents and tourists frequently use the campsite's internal roads for walks, causing discontent among paying guests. The Dong-gu district authorities stated that instead of physical barriers, which could block the sea view, they are focusing on constant guidance and managing pedestrian flow.

A fire broke out in a parked camper van in Suji-gu, Yongin City. The flames completely destroyed the vehicle, spread to a nearby container, and took about an hour to extinguish. Sixteen pieces of equipment and 48 personnel were deployed to fight the fire, with no casualties reported.

Former South Korean national football player Song Jong-guk was seen at the opening ceremony of a football center in Anyang. He had previously stated that he has been living for several years in a camper van worth approximately 70 million won, which he calls his home, following his divorces and property disputes.
