Toy Hauler

Vehicle Types USA

toy hauler, sport hauler, toy box RV, garage RV, ATV trailer camper

A toy hauler is a type of RV or trailer that combines living quarters with an enclosed rear garage section designed to transport ATVs, motorcycles, dirt bikes, kayaks or other recreational equipment (the "toys").

The garage ramp doubles as a patio deck in camp. Toy haulers are available as fifth wheels, travel trailers and motorhomes (Class A, B, C). Popular with outdoor sports enthusiasts in North America. The garage section can also be configured as extra sleeping quarters. Popular brands include Keystone, Grand Design, Forest River and Thor.

FAQ

What can you fit in a toy hauler garage?

Standard toy hauler garages fit 1–4 ATVs, dirt bikes or motorcycles, or a golf cart, or kayaks and bicycles — the exact capacity depends on garage length (typically 8–16 ft / 2.5–5 m) and width. Some fifth wheels have 20 ft garages that fit a compact car.

Can the garage section be used as living space?

Yes — many toy haulers have flip-down beds or removable furniture in the garage section so it doubles as a bedroom or lounge when not transporting equipment. This makes them practical for families who need flexible space.

Are toy haulers available in Europe?

Toy haulers are a predominantly North American product and very rare in Europe. European equivalents are custom-built on larger motorhome or van bases. If you need to transport motorcycles, a standard motorhome with a rear garage (kastenwagen) or a standard trailer is the typical European solution.
