City water connection

Water System USA Canada

City water connection, city water inlet, mains water connection, direct water hookup, RV city water, pressurized water connection

A city water connection is the external inlet (with a built-in check valve) that lets a motorhome or RV connect directly to a campground or municipal water supply via a drinking hose. Water flows under mains pressure, bypassing the fresh-water tank and pump. Standard on US RVs and full-hookup parks.

Thread is ¾″ NHT in the US; in Europe usually GEKA or ⅝″ GHT. A water pressure regulator capped at 40–50 psi (2.7–3.4 bar) is mandatory — US mains can run at 80–100 psi and will rupture internal plumbing. In European parks the regulator is usually built into the campsite hookup. The hose must be NSF/ANSI 61 food-grade, 7–15 m long.
