New regulations for motorhomes and camper vans in the Canary Islands

The authorities of the municipality of Calomarde in Teruel are considering expanding parking areas for motorhomes after they were fully occupied during Holy Week. The parking fee is 6 euros per day, and the collected funds are used to maintain the infrastructure of the town, which has about 70 inhabitants.

A reader reported the regular parking of motorhomes outside designated areas on Eduardo Ontañón street in Burgos. He stated the situation has become commonplace, while drivers of regular cars risk fines for similar violations. He called for increased enforcement of parking regulations.

German company Ari Motors has introduced the Ari 458 Pro, an electric motorhome with a length starting from 3.5 meters, claimed to be the smallest in Europe. It will be available to order from May at a price starting from 30,000 euros. The motorhome has a top speed of 70 km/h and a range of 120 to 230 km depending on the battery.

Spain's General Directorate of Traffic has introduced a new road sign S-128 indicating locations for motorhome wastewater disposal. Motorhome parking is equated to regular passenger cars, but setting up awnings and furniture is considered camping and is prohibited outside designated areas. The fine for illegal parking ranges from 80 to 200 euros, while camping in a protected area can reach up to 6000 euros.

The automotive website carwow.es presented a camper concept based on the Dacia Jogger. The modular design features a removable kitchen, water tank, and a foldable roof bed, with an estimated price of 27,000–30,000 euros.

The cost of renting a motorhome in Spain is not fixed and varies significantly. The price depends on the type of vehicle, season, and rental conditions, ranging from 54 euros per day for compact models in the low season to 200 euros or more for large motorhomes during peak periods.
