Motorhome gathering and Saint Gilles festival in Malestroit
Pardon des camping-caristes is an annual gathering for motorhome owners held in the town of Malestroit during the Saint Gilles festival. In 2025 the event runs August 29-31 and brings together travelers, parishioners and locals in a warm community atmosphere.
The event blends spiritual and social elements, with blessings for motorhomes, concerts and shared meals. Since 2017 the tradition also includes a caravaner meetup, offering a unique mix of travel, culture and the atmosphere of Brittany.
Motorhome parking is at rue de Narvik, Malestroit (56), and requires a special pass obtained at registration. Arrival is only on August 29 from 10:00 to 16:00. Participants should service their vehicles in advance because the city service area is closed on arrival day. Each crew receives a participant pack with the program, goblets, badges and a windshield sticker.
Registration is required, online at www.pardondescampingcaristes.fr, by mail with a completed form and payment, or in person during office hours (Monday 16:30-18:00, Wednesday 9:30-12:00, Saturday 16:30-18:00).
The three-day program includes participant welcome and coffee, a concert on the town square as part of Les vendredis du Canal, morning pastries on order, arrival of vintage tractors in the town center, joint prayer with local religious communities, a blessing of motorhomes, the Saint Gilles mass, a festive dinner with live entertainment (by reservation), and Sunday morning departure support.
