Why use an inverter-charger instead of separate inverter and charger?
An inverter-charger combines both devices with automatic, break-free switching: when on shore power it supplies loads from the mains and charges the battery; when disconnected it switches instantly to battery power. Separate devices cannot do this — manual switching is required.
Which inverter-charger should I choose for a motorhome?
The Victron MultiPlus-II 12/3000 is the industry standard for 12 V systems with LiFePO4. For 24 V systems consider the Victron MultiPlus-II 24/3000. Budget options: Victron EasySolar or Renogy 2000W. Basic comfort requires 1,500–2,000 VA; running an air conditioner from battery needs 3,000+ VA.
